    For some reason I don't think the customer should have to pay if a new owner takes over. Things should go smoothly, it's called planning ahead. It's a nice place, good ice cream, but if this is how I was treated when I went there then no, I would not return again. All of a sudden the "family establishment" part is forgotten.
